Are you having a hard time increasing your website views?  Did you know there are some specific strategies on how to design your website and where to place your content and images?

Many websites are designed and developed based on how you picture it in your head.  And there is certainly nothing wrong with that because we all want to see our creative ideas become reality and take life on the internet.  BUT, there is a science to having an effective website that attracts the eye to the right place in order to capture your audience and keep them longer on your site.

Here are 3 things to explain and show you how to increase your website views:

1)  The top left corner of your website gets the most attention.  If you are not familiar with the Gutenberg Diagram, you should really familiarize yourself with it.  Here is a version of the diagram itself:

This diagram describes the patter in which the eyes move through when looking at a usually text heavy content page.  The best area to place your call to action is on the bottom right of your website. Note that this is not some universal truth, but just a good starting point.

2)  Lots of people read in what is called F-Pattern’s.  This basically means that most people don’t usually read the content through and through, they typically scan their way through your website.  A 2008 study concluded that on an average only 28% of the text on one’s website is read.  Eyetracking visualizations show that users often read website content in an F-shaped pattern.  Check out the image below to see what we are talking about.

Place your value proposition in the top.  Also place your menu at the top horizontal or on the left vertical.

3)  Try using visibly larger introductory paragraphs for improved attention.  Make your intro paragraphs in a boldface or larger font size.  When the test subjects encountered a story with a boldface intro paragraph, 95% of them viewed all or part of it.  Make sure to also keep the paragraph line lengths short and in a single column.  This is how people are used to reading text.  The font that you use doesn’t really matter.  Extra bonus, the more links you put in the better clicks you will get.  People love clicking on links and the more you add the better!  These are a few great methods on how to increase your website views.
